Why I Got PSPO Certified
August 2025. I was in the middle of job searching, which if you've done it recently, you know it's mostly a game with some resume tweaking in between.
At some point I decided to just go for the PSPO cert. Two reasons.
First, the practical one. Recruiters go through a lot of profiles. ATS filters even more of them before any human sees your name. A cert like this is a small signal that sticks out. Doesn't get you the job, but helps you get seen. That's all I needed it to do.
Second reason was actually the exam structure itself. One attempt per payment. 85% passing score. That's not casual. I liked that it had some weight to it, because it means something when someone has it.
Also, I'll be honest, preparing for it made me realize I was doing a lot of product ownership on feel rather than solid understanding. I had 2.5 years of actual experience, but studying forced me to put proper words around things I was doing intuitively. That part was unexpectedly useful.
Scored 88%. Passed.
